Terms of Service
Taxcalibur Terms of Service
Version 2026.1. Effective October 27, 2026.
Taxcalibur is software for tax professionals. It does not give legal or tax advice; you are responsible for the return and for any advice you give.
Please read these terms. They are a contract between you and ASL LLC. You agree to them by ticking "I agree" (or "I accept") when you install or first open Taxcalibur, or by using it after a new version of these terms is shown to you.
1. Who we are and what this agreement is
Taxcalibur is made by ASL LLC, doing business as Auto Secure Login ("ASL", "we", "us"). "You" means the tax professional who installs and uses Taxcalibur and, if you use it for a firm, the firm; by agreeing you confirm that you may bind it. Taxcalibur is for tax professionals. It is not for use by the public to prepare their own returns.
2. What Taxcalibur is
Taxcalibur is software that runs on your computer. It helps you keep a client list and jobs, store your clients' documents encrypted, read those documents with an AI service you choose, calculate a draft federal and Colorado return with a tax engine, fill IRS forms, print documents for your clients, and prepare a hand-off package for the tax software in which you prepare and file the return of record. Taxcalibur does not file returns, does not sign for you, and does not talk to the IRS.
3. No legal or tax advice
Taxcalibur is software for tax professionals. It does not give legal or tax advice. ASL is not your law firm, accounting firm or tax adviser, and is not your clients' either.
Everything Taxcalibur shows or prints is a work aid: calculations, findings, summaries, what the AI reads from a document, help text, tutorials, and the sample documents (engagement letter, consent to disclose, electronic-signature consent, Form 8821 and the like). The sample documents are starting points: you decide whether they suit your practice, your clients and the law that applies to you, and you may have them reviewed by your own lawyer.
You are responsible for every return you prepare and every piece of advice you give, including checking each figure and each position against the source documents and the law, due diligence, signing as paid preparer, your duties under Treasury Department Circular 230, Internal Revenue Code sections 6694, 6695 and 7216, the FTC Safeguards Rule and your state's rules, and for obtaining your clients' consents. Review everything before you rely on it or give it to anyone.
4. Your responsibilities
- You are licensed, registered or otherwise allowed to do the work you do with Taxcalibur, and you hold a valid PTIN where one is required.
- You keep your computer, your Windows account, your Taxcalibur password and your recovery code secure, and you make backups.
- You tell your clients, and obtain the consents the law requires, before their information is disclosed to anyone, including to an AI service.
- You use Taxcalibur lawfully and only for your own professional practice.
5. AI reading
Taxcalibur can send documents, after it has removed personal details such as names, identification numbers, addresses and account numbers, to an AI service to be read. It does this through your own account or key with that provider (for example Anthropic's Claude), or through an assistant you connect yourself (for example Claude Desktop or ChatGPT's Codex).
That arrangement is between you and the provider. The provider's own terms and privacy policy apply, any charges are billed to you by the provider, and ASL is not a party to it and does not control the provider. Removing personal details reduces what is disclosed but cannot be guaranteed to catch everything: check what is sent. AI can misread or invent; you must verify what it reads.
6. Your data stays on your computer
Your clients, jobs and documents are stored encrypted on your computer. ASL does not receive them and cannot open them. Only what you choose to send leaves your computer: redacted documents to the AI provider you set up, documents to a redaction computer of your own if you set one up, and the fingerprint (hash) of a sign-off to the time-stamp server named in Settings.
You own your data. We claim no right to it. Because only you can unlock it, if you lose both your password and your recovery code, nobody, including ASL, can recover it.
7. Licence
ASL grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Taxcalibur on your computers for your own professional practice, under these terms. You may not copy it except to install and back it up, sell, rent or share it, remove its notices, or take it apart or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows that despite this term. ASL owns Taxcalibur. Parts of it are open-source or third-party components under their own licences, listed in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.
8. Purchases and the Microsoft Store
If you get Taxcalibur from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft sells it to you: the purchase, trial, payment, taxes, refunds and licence checks are handled by Microsoft under its Store terms, and ASL does not receive your payment details. Contact Microsoft for billing and refunds. A test installer from ASL is for evaluation and is provided as it is.
9. Updates and changes to these terms
We may update Taxcalibur and these terms. When these terms change materially, Taxcalibur shows the new version and asks you to agree before you continue. If you do not agree, you can stop using Taxcalibur and uninstall it; your data stays on your computer.
10. No warranty
Taxcalibur is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, ASL gives no warranty, express or implied, including that its results are correct, complete or current (tax law changes, and the engine covers particular forms, years and states), or that it is fit for a particular purpose, or that it will run without interruption or error. ASL gives only the warranties the law requires and does not allow to be excluded.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, ASL is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, lost profits or lost business, penalties, interest or additional tax, claims by your clients or by any tax authority, or loss of data. ASL's total liability to you for everything connected with Taxcalibur is limited to the greater of what you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim and US$100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
You will defend and compensate ASL against claims by third parties, including your clients, arising from a return you prepared or advice you gave, or from your use of Taxcalibur in breach of these terms.
12. Ending this agreement
You may stop at any time by uninstalling Taxcalibur; your data folder is not deleted. We may end your licence if you materially breach these terms. Sections 3, 5, 6, 10, 11, 13 and 14 continue after the agreement ends.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in Colorado have exclusive jurisdiction, except that mandatory consumer-protection rights of the place where you live are not affected.
14. General and contact
This is the whole agreement about Taxcalibur between you and ASL. If a part is unenforceable the rest stays in force. Not enforcing a term is not giving it up. You may not transfer this agreement without our written consent. If the Polish and English versions differ, the English version governs.
